Braces

Prentice Orthodontics offers braces for patients of all ages from Bloomfield, Westminister and surrounding areas. Our orthodontic office is a professional, comfortable and we carry many different styles of braces that will suit you or your child’s needs and lifestyle.

Technological advancements mean braces or aligners are lighter, less noticeable, and more comfortable, which makes treatment easier for you or your child and reduces visits to the orthodontist. We also have many different pricing options for braces and can work with your budget, so don’t let the cost deter you from having the smile you want.

Metal Braces

Technology has significantly advanced the field of orthodontics, and there are so many options available to our patients. We offer traditional metal braces, and a more aesthetic clear option.

Empower® 2 is the industry leader for self-ligating brackets, trusted by thousands of doctors. These braces are not only quick to install but can also reduce the length of time for treatment significantly. These braces also provide a more subtle appearance and are comfortable for patients.

Empower® Clear Brackets use an interactive self-ligating bracket system to enhance patient comfort and shorten treatment time while keeping aesthetics in mind. Empower Clear braces use translucent clips and brackets for cosmetic appeal. Now patients can receive the benefits of a self-ligating bracket system with the aesthetics of ceramic braces.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are another great option to improve your smile while maintaining your confidence. Ceramic braces are just like metal ones in shape and size but have clear or tooth-colored brackets to blend in with teeth.

Advantages

  • Obtain excellent results with ceramic braces.
  • You can enjoy wearing fashionable, colored braces.
  • Unlike aligners, ceramic braces are permanent and won’t get lost or misplaced.
  • Ceramic braces are less noticeable than metal.
  • Ceramic braces are attached to teeth, so you won’t lose them.

Responsibilities

  • Require consistently good hygiene and care.
  • Restrictions on some types of food.
  • Ceramic braces are more expensive than metal.
  • They fracture more easily than metal braces.

Braces Colors

Attention kids, teens and even adults: gone are the days of hiding your braces from the world: Prentice Orthodontics offers a variety of colored bands that make having metal braces extra fun. Talk to Dr. Prentice about adding some pop and pizzazz to your braces with color.

We pride ourselves in quick, no fuss appointments and want to accommodate your busy schedule. The amount of time needed for adult orthodontic treatment varies from patient to patient, but Dr. Prentice will work with you to establish a reasonable timeline of care based on your evaluation.

Before you start treatment, Dr. Prentice will give you a thorough examination. She checks for facial balance, disproportionate jaw growth and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. After completing her initial evaluation, Dr. Prentice will provide a plan for your treatment, including pricing, the time needed, and any other factors to help you achieve the smile you deserve. Your comfort is our top priority— from consultation to installation to maintenance to aftercare.

Retention and Post-Treatment Care

Remember, the work isn’t over once your braces come off. At this point, you enter the retention stage of your treatment plan.

This phase takes a minimum of 24 months and involves wearing retainers and undertaking a consistent self-care routine to ensure the treatment lasts and teeth don’t shift back. During this time, Dr. Prentice pays close attention to your teeth to ensure everything stays in place.
